- Regular Inspection
Examine the batteries on a regular basis for corrosion, damage, or leakage. Baking soda and water should be used to remove any corrosion from the terminals, and then everything should be thoroughly rinsed with fresh water.
- Keep the Battery Clean
A clean battery is less likely to develop electrical leakage or short circuits. Keep the top of the battery free from dirt, debris, and moisture.
- Tighten Connections
Ensure that all connections to the battery terminals are secure. Reduced battery performance and voltage dips might result from loose connections.
- Maintain Proper Water Levels
When necessary, monitor and maintain the electrolyte levels in flooded lead-acid batteries. Use distilled water to top up the cells if necessary, but do not overfill.
